 The foundation stone of this palace was laid by Raja Man Singh I one of the Navratnas of Emperor Akbar which was then further completed by Mirja Raja Jai Singh. Located amidst the amazeball Aravalli Hills, Amber Palace is something which a globetrotter cannot afford to miss out. 

Beguiling beauty of the red sandstone and white marble adds to its sparkling magnificence. Whilethe high formidable walls defended its residents from enemy attacks, the main building of the citadel served its people with security and protection on a wider scale.The scenic backdrop of the Maota Lake and panoramic views of sunrise and sunset contribute to the dazzling beauty of this palace. Intricate wall paintings, frescos and the use of precious gems and jewels in these paintings add to its endless beauty .Sheesh Mahal the ‘Palace of Mirror’ is also one of the captivating halls to visit within Amber Palace. As the name itself exolains the palace is Decorated with numerous pieces of mirror tiles, it was designed in such a way, even a single ray entering into it can illuminate the entire hall.

Amber Fort, also famous as Amer Fort is one of the best tourist destinations not just in Jaipur City but the whole of Rajasthan. Amer along with Jaigarh Fort is regarded as a single structure and a subterranean passage which connects the two forts. It was believed that the passage was used to escape at times of war or enemy attacks. It is located on Cheel Ka Teela on Aravalli hills. Later, expansions were undertaken by the successive rulers.  With its amazing architecture that combines the Mughals and the Hindu styles, the fort built in red sandstone and marble, is a sight to watch and walk through with its high ramparts, many gates, cobbled paths and spectacular view.

  • The Amber Fort being one of the prime attractions of Jaipur, is crowded at all times. And if you wish to avoid much crowd, then visit it on a week day.
  • It is a vast complex and walking around is the only way to enjoy and feel its beauty. Hence wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
  • Carry water bottles, shades and hats or caps.
  • There are rest rooms and café within the premises.

  • Indulge in some handicraft and art work shopping at the stalls and handicraft shops in Amer town
  • Try the famous elephant ride inside the fort, costing Rs.900 for two persons (charges can vary)
  • Attend the light shows in the evening, available in English and Hindi as per the convenience.
